It wasn’t a laugh, but it was such a joy to read this letter from John Piper to JI Packer. John Piper could have let his success go to his head but after his hugely sucessful ministry he refers to himself as one of “the little guys”, and this paragraph was a true lesson for me in humility:

May the Lord of glory give you strength and wisdom and faithfulness till he comes or until he calls. It will be a delight to stand somewhere behind you in the massive choir to acclaim our Lord in the resurrection.

He acknowledges Packer as a truly great man but isn’t jealous and indeed thanks God that Packer has been able to serve as he has.
